As a member of Dark Sky International, Jeanine Holowatuik’s mission is not only to capture but to preserve these skies, urging us to confront our complicity in their degradation and to rediscover their purity. Her photography showcases the beauty of the night skies and vast star fields, emphasizing true-to-experience visuals that capture the magic of nature’s nightly show.

Her work has been featured worldwide, including on the cover of the Saskatchewan Tourism Guide and the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada’s 2025 Calendar. Her skills in aurora science, photography, and storytelling create a fascinating experience for participants as they delve into the world of astrophotography.

By day, Horizons at Night encompasses the terrestrial as we tread along coastal paths, marvel in sunsets, and share stories by the fire. The wisdom of Huu-ay-aht guide Qiic Qiica (Keats) will bring us into deeper harmony with the stars through Indigenous perspectives, underscoring that our communion with the cosmos is as ancient as it is profound. In this retreat of stargazing, wildlife observation, boat rides through bioluminescence, and quiet walks by the sea, we aim not merely to capture images but to capture a truth far deeper—of our place within a vast, ungraspable universe.
